About Dugan Sales and Service
In 1911, Henry Dugan founded the Dugan-Bennett Co. farm implement. Eventually, farm implements were put on the back burner and the home appliance market took the spotlight. If was then that the company first introduced Maytag appliances to Watertown.
Bud and Bob, Henry’s sons, took over the business in 1933 and carried on the same ethics of excellence that their father implemented at the store situated on North Broadway. Their conclusion was that “cheap to buy does not mean cheap to own”. As the story goes, it seems that Bud invented a new phrase that goes along the lines of: “the cost of anything begins when you buy it and ends when you get rid of it. We have the lowest cost appliances in the area".
In 1978, Bud’s son Jim Dugan joined the team. Despite being the third generation, Jim and his wife Jane really believed in the business model, being that their success relied on customer satisfaction gained through outstanding service. They knew the result would be customer loyalty. This is precisely the way Dugan’s has been operating for three generations.
Jim’s thoughts on his family’s service are the following: "It is with a sense of gratitude that we celebrate our 100th year of continuous ownership and operation as a family business. We take pride in what we do and it shows. Our customers and their children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins keep reminding us why we've been in business so long and why we'll continue to meet the needs of each and every one of them. For 100 years, our appliances have been found in homes where families gather together to enjoy home cooked meals with those they love. Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of that tradition and thank you for being our customer".
